Free Therapy Services for Crime Survivors
At Austin Child Guidance Center (ACGC), we care about helping children and families affected by crime. We offer free individual and family therapy for children who have experienced crimes. Our goal is to help you on your healing journey with kindness and care.
Who We Help
We provide free therapy for survivors of many types of crimes, including, but not limited to:
- Abandonment or Neglect
- Arson
- Bullying
- Domestic violence
- Exploitation
- Hate or Bias crime or trauma
- Home invasion
- Homicide survivor
- Kidnapping
- Physical or Sexual assault
- Robbery
- Separation from family due to Child Protective Services (CPS) intervention
- Stalking
- Survivor of suicide loss
- Terroristic threat
- Trafficking
- Trauma related to Driving While Intoxicated (DWI) or Driving Under the Influence (DUI) incidents

Please note that our free services do not include a Walk-In Clinic session, psychological assessments, or other services.
Additional Support Services
In addition to therapy, we can help identify and prioritize your needs through a needs assessment. Once the needs assessment is complete, staff will help connect you with local resources to support your family. This might include help with:
- Food and Housing
- Financial Assistance
- Education
- Medical Care
- Employment
- Transportation
- Technology
- Legal Assistance
Eligibility
To qualify for free therapy services,
- Your household income must be at or below 250% or below the federal poverty level.
- You do not have private insurance or Medicaid to cover services.
ACGC will ask for proof of income to check if your family qualifies.

Funding for services is generously provided by the Texas Offices of the Governor and the Attorney General and Travis County. Availability of free services depends on grant funding.
