Austin Child Guidance Center recently presented several awards at the Center’s 2007 Annual Meeting and Awards Dinner. The annual dinner recognizes outstanding supporters and donors of Austin Child Guidance Center and children’s mental health issues, outstanding staff members, and the incoming 2007 Board of Directors.
Kathy Rider, LCSW – Christine W. Anderson Children’s Service Award
Rider was presented this award in recognition of her outstanding service to children and families locally and statewide. She was been a clinical social worker for 37 years and serves in many community leadership positions in Austin and Texas, most notably she served as President of the AISD Board of Trustees for 8 years. The Christine W. Anderson Children’s Service Award was established in memory of Dr. Anderson, who died on June 13, 1982, at the age of 29. At the time of her death, she was a valued member of Austin Child Guidance Center ’s Board of Directors and a professor at The University of Texas at Austin , Department of Educational Psychology.
The Dell Foundation – Outstanding Corporate Support Award
The Dell Foundation was presented this awarded in appreciation of a two-year $50,000 grant in support of the Infant and Early Childhood Mental Health Training and Outreach Program. The program promotes early intervention of children with mental health concerns in childcare and preschool settings.
Susie Matthews and Donald Zappone – Staff Awards
Staff members Susie Matthews , Administrative Director/CFO, was honored with 30 Years of Service Award and Donald Zappone , Dr.P.H., Executive Director, was honored with 25 Years of Service Award.
Navigator Society Members
Established in 2005, members of the Navigator Society include those who understand the importance of long-term support of Austin Child Guidance Center and pledge a minimum donation of $1,000 a year for five years. Members joining since September 28, 2006 include: Robin Chotzinoff, Kenneth and Kathy Fox, Anne Freeman, Deborah Hensley, Jim and Betsy Kreisle, Cori Moyer, Phyllis and Jef Nelson, Gene Anne Sandbach, Serie Spicer and Hank Dembosky, Jay and Lori Symcox, Mary Ellen Umstattd, and David and Miriam Zodikoff.
2007 Board of Director Officers
The Austin Child Guidance Center Board Officers for 2007 are: Kathryn Kramer, Ph.D. as President; Will Shapiro as Vice President; Brenda Barrett Healey as Secretary/Treasurer; and David Zodikoff, Immediate Past President. Board members include: Robert K. Lum; James Maynard , M.D.; Cori Moyer; Anne Nelson , Ph.D.; Marcie Parastar; and Selia Servín-López, Psy.D.
Austin Child Guidance Center is a nonprofit organization committed to improving the mental health of children and families through early intervention, diagnosis, and treatment. Austin Child Guidance Center has been helping families in the Austin community build emotionally healthy lives for more than 50 years. A multidisciplinary team of psychologists, social workers, counselors, and psychiatrists provide mental health evaluation and treatment services, including individual, family and group counseling.
